FAQs
How long has Taylored Mentoring been established?
Taylored Mentoring Services (TMS) began as a small family start-up back in 2017 and has grown into a flourishing business employing over 60 staff. We still have family values at heart – working together to ensure every young person has the chance to thrive.
What is different about Counselling and Mentoring?
Mentoring relationships are informal and tend to last longer than counselling support, which is more formal. Mentoring meetings take place in various settings, while counselling sessions typically take place in the counsellor’s office.
How does mentoring help?
Mentoring support packages are as individual as the children and young adults we work with. Generally, mentoring helps to boost confidence, improve personal, social and emotional development, and enhance communication skills, time management, responsibility and accountability.
Our one-to-one mentoring and training help young people prepare for adulthood, realise their potential and develop the skills they need to succeed.
How will I know my child is safe?
We know many of the young people we work with have difficulty trusting others – and building safe and trusting relationships is a vital part of what we do.
We have a robust set of policies in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students. Safeguarding is a top priority and all TMS staff are DBS checked and certified.
I’m concerned my child is underachieving at school, can Mentoring help?
Yes! One-to-one mentoring is an effective way to help young people grow in confidence and prepare for adulthood – developing the social, emotional and practical skills they need to succeed in life.
Call us on 01452 225840 or email info@tayloredmentoring.co.uk to discuss how we can help.
Where do mentoring sessions take place?
One-to-one mentoring sessions usually take place at the TMS Hub – our home-from-home in Kingsholm, Gloucester, which offers 5,000 square feet of well-equipped, welcoming and safe mentoring space.
Is Mentoring affordable?
Every case is different. Costs are based on the number of hours required for each session and the number of sessions required. Funds and grants may be available to help with the cost of the mentoring package. Speak to our friendly team for advice.
My child has a diagnosed difficulty, how can you help?
Our specialised team are fully trained to provide one-to-one mentoring for young people with diagnosed conditions, neurodivergence and other difficulties.
We’re always happy to discuss custom packages of mentoring, training and support. Email info@tayloredmentoring.co.uk or call 01452 225840 to talk through what you need.
What age groups do you Mentor?
Most of the children and young adults we support are aged between eight and 18, and provide clear post-16 pathways for young people with EHCPs.
We’re often asked to support young people outside our core age range, and consider whether we can meet the needs of the young person on a case-by-case basis.
Call us on 01452 225840 or email info@tayloredmentoring.co.uk to discuss the support you need.
How long does Mentoring take?
There’s no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to mentoring. In the same way every young person is different, the support and mentoring they need is different, too – and the length of time we work with them varies according to individual needs.
Email info@tayloredmentoring.co.uk or call our experienced team on 01452 225840 to discuss a personalised package of support.
